Hungry Asian Boy

Live to eat!

Harvest Day 豐收

10th floor, Causeway Bay Plaza 2, 463-483 Lockhart Road, Causeway Bay.

I was pleasantly surprise by my first visit to 豐收 ( literally translates as Harvest Day, quite appropriate for a restaurant). The menu was presented on an iPad, which at first glance suggested a pricey venue. However the prices were quite reasonable and the menu was sufficiently authentic for Zhejiang/Shanghainese cuisine. If you were considering the banquet menu for a big group, may I suggest that you go to a regular Cantonese restaurant.

Sugar and Vinegar Spare Ribs

The entrees were lotus root stuffed with glutinous rice. The lotus root was slightly crunchy and less sweet than I was expecting. The next entree was sea blubber head had a good chewy texture and well marinated. The flavoring was less intense than typical for such a dish. The last entree was sugar and vinegar spare ribs, one of my favorites. This dish did not disappoint and was popular amongst the diners.

Duck Glutinous Rice

All the mains came at the same time. I have to say, the highlight for me was suppose to the hairy crab roe with tofu but I was slightly disappointed as it was slightly “fishy” and perhaps needed a little more ginger. The popular dish was the sea cucumber that was flavored just right and cooked to a slightly chewy state (as it should be). Visibly impressive dishes was the braised pork knuckle (boy it was big!!) and the glutinous rice cooked with duck in a steam basket, all delicious in its own right.
