126 Stanley Main Street, Stanley.
An old favourite for international cuisine, this type of restaurant is fast becoming extinct in Hong Kong. The meal reminds me of the simple, homely service international cuisine restaurant when I was a kid before Hong Kong was dominated by chain restaurants. Whilst the black board had set dinner meals, I opted for a la carte instead. I ordered the minestrone soup, hawaiian pizza and bbq pork ribs. The minestrone was done old fashion style without resorting to tomato ketchup/sauce to make up for the lack of flavour, great comfort food. The hawaiian pizza had one of the thinnest crust I ever tasted, almost like a cracker base and reminiscent of the “imitation pizza” local international restaurants use to make. The rib was somewhat of a disappointment. The meat was not cooked through enough so it somewhat tough and the sauce tasted like an experiment gone wrong. Let’s just say soy sauce, preserve bean curd, sugar and oyster sauce does not equate to smoky bbq sauce.
